Safety is Your Personal Responsibility:
Video #1

"Safety is No Accident".  I saw that on a poster years ago and it is a constant reminder of how important it is to make "safety" a topic that is constantly prepared for in the work environment.  Safety is a mindset!  It is how you think, act and react.   In other words, you must know what you are doing, always!   You must know the safest way to operate equipment and perform tasks.  This must be learned on a consistent basis.  This page is where you will engage in safety information, safety videos, and safety assessments.  Be sure and watch and learn when you are alert and attentive.  It is your personal responsibility to act safely at all times.  Also remember, when you are unsure of anything related to operating equipment properly, ask the instructor for help before you begin.

This initial safety video is the true principal for all safety.  In other words, it is ultimately up to you to pay attention to safety and to apply it as best as you have been taught.  Never assume anything.  Make sure you have been trained by the right person where safety is involved.  In the case of the class, it is the teacher or someone appointed that will show you how to do whatever you are being asked to do correctly and safely!  Click on the picture to access the information.

There are many things to think about when operating machine.  One of the dangers is thinking about other things.  Keep your mind on your work and make sure you are following all the expected safety precautions---using the proper safety equipment.    Click on the picture to access the video information.

There is great wisdom in listening to an experienced person; no matter what their expertise.  Working with woodworking equipment where safety is an important issue is especially crucial to gain wisdom and "right thinking" from someone who has "been there and done that".  This information is contained in the following article.  Read it carefully and take Cornell notes to use throughout your stay in the class.

Sometimes looking at what could be wrong with a picture is how you determine what is the safe and correct way to do something.  Take a look at the various images and write down all the safety violations to each slide.  Be as complete as possible.   There are quite a few things that are wrong, some obvious, some not so obvious.   Click on the picture to access the graphic information.
