One Point Perspective
Two Point Perspective

The essence of design is found everywhere we look. From the phone we use---to the clothes we wear----to the houses we live in-----the "fabric" of design is imbedded in every civilization and the cultures they create.   It is the nature of man to alleviate the challenges of life by designing a "better mouse trap"  Here we will look at both the methods, elements and images of design as it pertains to building.  We will do this by examining the use of perspective drawing and the techniques used to create them.

The ability to see, experience, and learn to draw in perspective is very important in the various stages of constructing a building.  This is especially important in building architecture and the eventual blueprint design it leads to.  The video and drawing instructions are found by clicking on the picture and following the internet url and then following directions to design a "two-point perspective" picture.

Perspective drawings really start with understanding the idea of starting with one point on a horizon line.  We will start here and add to this concept with the intent of creating a "cityscape" in a future assignment.  The assignemt is accessed by clicking on the picture.  The url link on youtube appears there.  Enjoy as you continue to learn to make perspective drawing.

The assignment for this perspective drawing is found by clicking on the picture above. Remember to read the directions and to follow them carefully as you learn to recreate a perpective picture of intersecting city blocks.Use the two point perspective technique in the video and also, remember to use a ruler and pencil.

We will use the same perspective drawing techniques in designing the interior space of a typical room inside a house. The specific directions and video link are found by clicking on the image above.
