Orthographic Projections: House Elevation Views
After viewing the elevation images found on the slide show, choose one to create a front and side view of a house. Your drawing should be an accurate representation of the one you are choosing. No Sketching! Use a ruler and make your lines crisp, clean and neat. If you choose only a front image, make sure you create your own side image. You should use two pieces of paper for each orthographic view in this assignment.
Here is where you will draw your five geometric shapes and then connect them to the vanishing point to create 3D solids. This is similar to an intro drawing we did on perspective. Again, this is not a sketch so you must use a ruler and compass. Shade appropriately with the vanishing point being the darkest shading.
This is the last drafting and drawing technique we looked at. The house you choose will be from the ones you view. Your house should be drawn from the horizon point at 30 degrees from the horizon. Click on the picture. You should have all the details found in a typical house. Windows, roof materials, doors, exterior covering materials, etc. . . .
This is the most involved part of the assignment. It needs to be original. There is a great power point presentation that has some great examples of city scapes. The one that you will do will be similar to the ones you see; again, with your original ideas. The design must include two intersecting streets and drawn precisely with a ruler using proper perspective techniques.
