I'What are "blueprints"?m a title

The name "blueprints" is synonomous with a plan drawing.  However, this is a name that has stuck from a printing procedure that has long been abandoned.  Read the article that is found by clicking on the picture and you will learn the history of this fascinating process.

This is an introduction to this process of developing "plan drawings".  This informatin will give you some understanding along with introducing you to some of the vocabulary.   Highlighted in this presentation are the two elements to residential building plans that are most important:  the floor plan and elevations.  Click on the picture to access the info.  

Almost every city and county has developed a "sheet" that is used by homeowners and builders to understand the building code requirements as they plan and construct their building.  That is know as the "Type V" sheet.  It is a helpful building "cheat sheet" that is an abbreviated version of the code for most residential construction.

As a continued introduction to the skills needs to read, interpret and use blueprints or plan drawings, we will look at some of the more common terminology that make up this occupation.

Plan Drawings; also known as "Blueprints"

 

Here is where we will overview the graphic element to the building process:  the "set" of plans.  This page will give you the general overview or introduction to these plans.  The following pages will focus on each particular drawing found in a set of building plans, working drawings, or otherwise known as "blueprints"
