: Scale

Sid and Pesto find themselves eyeing the new setting for Sid's island retreat.  The property is amazing.  Lush, palms swaying from the ocean air.  And, boy, that waterfall.  The mist. The rainbow created from the sunlight.  I just wonder, thought Pesto,  eyeing the beauty of the cascading water. . . . . .. . . . . . . . .  . . . . click on the picture to access the story and the problem you can help them solve.

Yea, let's zip!!   Down the line that is.  How far is it going to go and what will be the final cost of this adventure fun is going to be your part of the outcome.  Calculate carefully and show all your work.. . . . . . . . . . . the story is accessed through the picture.

Piers are in, the concrete is poured.  Now it's time for the wood!  Wood is good!  The flooring structure is very important for support of any structure especially a "pier-like" deck.  Here you will calculate the costs based on following specific directions in how the floor strucutre is to be assembled.

The foundation in construction is critical.  Sid and Pesto encounter an immediate design / engineering issue as they begin the inital foundation construciton of their island dream house.  Costs, again, are the issue as they need to understand both the construction engineering and how much material is needed. . . . . the picture will take you there.

This is where it's at!  The 2014 version of Buildometry!  These problems say it all.  Math and construction coexist-----in fact, they are completely dependent on one and another.  Check out each biweekly story.  The story continues so it is necessary to do each buildometry lesson so you can do the next one.  Good luck, enjoy, oh, and show all your work!!
