Kitchens have always had a tremendous element of design because of how they funtion.  This utilitarian aspect of a kitchen has integrated with many beautiful aspects of interior design, including the cabinets, the countertop, the appliances and the lighting.  It has become the most important room for purposes of design found in the house today.
