Today, for the most part, the kitchen has become the center of the house.  It is where the thoughts and challenges of the day are discussed over a cup of latte and a bag of chips.  It is often the first room that members of the house go, to relax and enjoy some refreshments.  The kitchen can be a gathering for a family meal or a place to do homework while snacking.  It is often integrated with the family room and can be  outfitted with the same electronic amentities.  The following are pictures of traditional and modern kitchens.
